COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE:

COMMUNITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AWARDS (CEDA) COMMITTEE:
Chairman: Joy Foy, Director, Asset Development Division, Mississippi Development Authority, Jackson, MS
This committee is responsible for coordinating this awards program, disseminating information, obtaining judges, notifying winners and helping with the Awards Luncheon during Winter Conference. The deadline for accepting CEDA nominations has passed. The CEDA awards luncheon will be held at the MEDC Winter Conference at the Hilton in Jackson on Thursday, February 2.
CONFERENCES COMMITTEE:
Chairman: Cliff Brumfield, Executive Director, Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber and Industrial Development Foundation, Brookhaven, MS

LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE:

This committee advises the membership of legislative issues affecting economic development in the state. The MEDC Legislative Breakfast will be held Wednesday morning, February 1, at Galloway United Methodist Church in Jackson. Legislators, MEDC members and conference attendees are invited. PROFESSIONAL EXCHANGE PROGRAM COMMITTEE:
Blake Wallace, Executive Director, Hinds County Economic Development District, Jackson, MS and Barbara Smith, IOM, VP, Chamber of Commerce Division, Community Development Foundation, Tupelo, MS
This new committee, the brainchild of Blake Wallace, will be formulating topics of areas of expertise for economic development and chamber of commerce professionals and recruiting members to sign up for one or more topics. Members seeking assistance in those areas will be connected.
MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE:
Chairman: Elizabeth Taylor, Existing Industry and Business Division, Mississippi Development Authority, Jackson, MS
This committee recruits new members, provides statements for dues to members, publishes the Member Directory annually and keeps the information for the directory current.

SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE:

This committee oversees the MEDC scholarship funds, receives all applications for MEDC scholarships and makes tuition awards to the recipients after they have attended the course. The Scholarship Application period usually is open October 1 - November 30 for courses in the next year.
YP (Young-In-The-Profession) COMMITTEE:
Chairman: Greg Word, Manager, Technical/Graphic Services, North Mississippi Industrial Development Association, West Point, MS
This is an effort to connect and nurture those new to the profession. It loosely includes members under 40 years of age and also includes those of any age that have been in the economic development or chamber profession less than three years.
