GENERAL DYNAMICS TO BRING 225 NEW JOBS TO HATTIESBURG

Gov. Phil Bryant and officials from General Dynamics Information Technology announced today the company is opening new operations in the Cloverleaf Center on U.S. 49 South in Hattiesburg. The project is expected to be create 225 new jobs by the summer, increasing to 250 by spring 2014.

Governor Phil Bryant, von Drehle officials and local officials held an announcement event today to celebrate the company’s recent decision to locate manufacturing operations in Natchez, Miss. The project is creating a minimum of 100 new jobs.

ASHLEY ACQUIRES MISSISSIPPI PLANT TO MAKE MATTRESSES, SOFA-SLEEPERS

Ashley Furniture said it has acquired a 275,000-square-foot facility here (Verona, MS) that will be used as a factory, customer support center, and replacement parts center. About 150,000 square feet will be devoted to manufacturing, and about 60 jobs will be added during the first phase of its development, the company said.

SIGNET MARITIME CORPORATION ANNOUNCES EXPANSION OF OPERATIONS IN PASCAGOULA,MISS.

Signet Maritime Corporate has announced plans for a $3.6-million expansion of its shipbuilding and repair operations at the Port of Pascagoula, creating 50 additional jobs.

COMFORT REVOLUTION BEGINS MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS IN BELMONT, MISS.

Comfort Revolution, a manufacturer of high-end sleep products, has held a ribbon-cutting for its new plant in Belmont, Miss., in Tishomingo County. The company plans to create 200-300 jobs within three years.

Chromcraft Revington Inc.’s board of directors has approved the consolidation of the company’s Delphi, Indiana Distribution Center operations into its Senatobia manufacturing and distribution operations in the first half of 2013.

AURORA WELCOMES THIRD EXPANSION IN SEVEN YEARS

Within a new 30,000-square foot addition to Aurora Flight Sciences, officials say, lies the future of modern manufacturing in Mississippi. Officials at Aurora Flight Sciences said three expansions in seven years is a good problem to have. In fact, they're even planning for additional expansions--if growth continues--within the next two years. 250 jobs will be created from the expansion, carrying with them an average annual salary of $45,000.

HELEN OF TROY TO BUILD WAREHOUSE IN DESOTO COUNTY

Consumer products company Helen of Troy will build a new $37 million warehouse in DeSoto County. Officials said Helen of Troy would create 300 jobs.

NISSAN TO BUILD MURANO IN MISSISSIPPI

Nissan Motor Co. will assemble its Murano crossover vehicle in its Mississippi plant beginning in late 2014. Canton plant manager Dan Bednarzyk said Thursday that Nissan will add 400 jobs to its current total of about 5,200. It has invested more than $2 billion since it announced plans to build the plant in 2000.
